Shifting Emotions with Essential Oils Can Shift Health

By Jodi Cohen

Have you been struggling with a health issue for a while?  Perhaps you tried changing your diet?  Adding certain supplements?  Reducing stress or trying to improve sleep? While all of these modifications likely resulted in some improvement, the underlying issue might still be there.  Slightly less symptomatic, but still there. Essential Oils are here to support shifting emotions to shift health.

Shifting Emotions to Shift Health

I can totally relate.  For years, my liver and gall bladder would flare up then calm down.  I would toggle between symptomatic to fine (never really great, but fine) depending on how impeccable I kept my diet and stress levels.

It was bizarrely stressful.  And exhausting.  I would never really enjoy myself at restaurants because I was constantly weighing my cravings for bread, wine or cheese against the thought that if I ate them I would feel it the next day.  Sometimes my cravings won out.  And I would feel really guilty.  And symptoms would flare.  Then I would be impeccable for a while and everything would calm down.

It felt like a never ending roller coaster.  And very hard to sustain for long periods of time.

Then a new naturopath suggested I address the underlying emotional issues that are correlated with the liver and gall bladder, anger and fear.

I started with essential oils that support the release of those emotions, Liver Support for the Anger and Uplift for the Fear and combined it with some tapping and other weird stuff as my kids like to call it.

And an amazing thing began to happen.  I actually started to shift.  I was no longer just treading water, trying to prevent myself from drowning, but I actually started to make progress toward healing.

I had no idea that releasing pent up emotions could have such a profound physical impact.  So of course being the former journalist that I am, I started researching to find out why.  I have to say that what I found was not only super interesting, but made a lot of sense.

As you may know, the Hypothalamus™ in the brain controls all of the hormonal signals in the body.  It collects, assesses and responds to all internal and external signals in the body, including our thoughts and emotions.

The Hypothalamus™‘s interpretation of the information received determines which hormones are secreted. This means it both needs to be functioning optimally and receiving optimal signals. Emotionally charged thoughts filled with fear or anger impact the signals that are sent to the body.

The interplay between the hypothalamus and the limbic system is slightly complicated, but basically it is where our emotions interface with the nervous and endocrine systems to affect bodily functions and health.

This interplay of emotional, nervous system and endocrine signals can cause whatever the particular emotion may be to be sent to its corresponding organ to interfere with its function and to be stored there.

It may not come as a big surprise that the emotions that affect us most strongly are usually negative. The effect of these negative emotions on the associated organs can cause diseases of various kinds that  may not shift until the emotional component is dealt with. Some of the emotions traditionally associated with particular organs are:
